The German Club meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m., in the Lakeview Room, beginning in September through April. Any interested individuals are welcome to attend a meeting. If you have any questions, call the president, Frank Nechvatal, at 480-883-9262.
In October, the club celebrated Oktoberfest with a Brat Potluck. Brats were purchased by the club and prepared by Trish DeFlieze. We also had German potato salad. Members brought dishes to share with the club. We had a very enjoyable time. Our next meeting will be Nov. 23 in the Lakeview Room.
October also is the time Germany celebrates the Day of German Unity. It was on Oct. 3, 1990, that East and West Germany were reunited as one country. This was marked by the Berlin Wall coming down, and Soviet control of East Germany was withdrawn.
