With so many creative ways to play a Scramble, strategizing quickly became the name of the game at this year’s Home and Home Tournament. The field was a wonderful mix of 33 SunBird Lady Niners and 22 Sun Lakes Lady Niners, making for a spirited and friendly day of competition.
One of the day’s brightest highlights came from our own Paula Neuser who scored a hole-in-one on number 13—her very first ace! The shot also earned her the Lady Niners hole-in-one pot of $153, adding even more excitement to the celebration. And as if that weren’t sweet enough, the Horizon Room delighted everyone with a delicious Taco Bar and churros for dessert.
The ballroom looked especially festive, thanks to the artful table decorations created by Connie Street and Rhonda Malta. Each place setting featured a beautifully decorated sugar cookie with golf terms. Paula even had one that read “Hole-in-One,” making her milestone moment even more special. And speaking of celebrations, Carol Delk enjoyed an extra-happy birthday by winning the 50/50 raffle.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to Ranee Seaman and Judy Johnston, our dedicated tournament coordinators, for creating such a fun and memorable event for all the Lady Niners from Sun Lakes and SunBird. Ranee also spearheaded the committee comprised of herself, Cathy Wilson, Mary Stohr, Jill Ponce, and Sherry McElhaney who created the sugar cookies! Paula Neuser and Margaret Wiseman jumped right in after play to determine the winners—we couldn’t have awarded the prizes without their quick teamwork. We also extend our appreciation to Scott Stohr, Tim Ponce, Don McElhaney, and Greg Wilson for staging the golf carts and helping the players get off to a good start.
A wonderful day of golf, friendship, celebration, and community—everything the Lady Niners are all about.
