Our club had its annual Christmas party as a luncheon on Dec. 5 in the Lakeview Room. The meal was a salad followed by chicken schnitzel with hot German potato salad and green beans almondine. We had a sheet cake for dessert. The food was outstanding. We want to express a big thank you to Julie and her staff for a superb meal and service! To Virginia, thank you for great table service, and a tip of the Tyrolean hat to Espy for the excellent hot German potato salad! Following the meal, a short narrative history was given of the two most well-known German carols: “Silent Night” and “O Tannenbaum.” We ended the luncheon with a gift exchange.
Our next meeting will be on Jan. 25 at 6 p.m. in the Lakeview Room. We will have a discussion and plan for our Fasching Celebration in February. Fasching is the German version of Mardi Gras. Mark your calendars accordingly.
