The January meeting of the Sun Lakes Democratic Club will be held on Monday, January 8, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. in the Navajo Room of the Sun Lakes Country Club, located at 25601 E. Sun Lakes Blvd. N. The speakers will be Sandra Kennedy and Bill Mundell, democratic candidates for the Arizona Corporation Commission.
The January meeting will feature two candidates for the democratic nomination for the Arizona Corporation Commission which will have two seats of the five-member commission on the 2018 General Election ballot. This commission decides solar, water and utility rate issues. It also is involved in fraud committed against Arizona citizens by corporations.
Sandra Kennedy has served on the Corporation Commission before, from 2009 to 2013. Ms. Kennedy, an ASU graduate, also served in the Arizona Legislature as a House Representative from 1986 to 1992 and later in the Arizona Senate from 1992-1998. She has vast knowledge of the commission and its responsibilities to the citizens of Arizona.
Bill Mundell, who ran for a seat on the Corporation Commission in 2016, also has a vast knowledge of the important issues that come before this body, having served as a former Corporation Commissioner from 1999 to 2009. An ASU graduate, Bill also served in the Arizona House of Representatives from 1980 to 1986. He currently has a law practice in Chandler.
The Sun Lakes Democratic Club collects non-perishable food items for Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank. Please bring your tax-deductible contributions to the drop-off area in the west parking lot from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Ask for a receipt. The club donated 108 pounds of food and $45.00 cash for November. The totals for the year, so far, are 1144.5 pounds of food and $571.00 in cash. We appreciate all you do.
