Our winter term is passing quickly for Kare Bears. It will soon be time to elect three board members for Kare Bears. If you are interested in serving on the board, please contact Margaret Speer (our president). Election occurs at the March meeting (final meeting for the season). We have approximately 75 members in Kare Bears. If there is any area in which you wish to volunteer, please contact one of our officers. Any one of the officers or chairpersons would be happy and agreeable to answer your questions on duties of the various committees. Even doubling up on the committees is very helpful. So, if you want to co-chair with a buddy, go for it.

Thank you for participating in our Second-Hand Rose Style Show or attending the luncheon. Under the auspices of Emily Hughes, the gathering of models with a written description of their recycled clothing and coordinating this event was a tremendous outreach. It is amazing the outfits that are chosen for display. And our models are pretty amazing, too.

Tickets for the Creedence Clearwater Concert scheduled for Feb. 22 may still be available by contacting Barb Dunbar, secretary for Kare Bears, at 360-490-1587. Tickets are $20 each. If you enjoy music from the late 60s and into the 70s, you will love this concert. “Proud Mary,” “Who’ll Stop the Rain,” “Down on the Corner,” “Have You Ever Seen the Rain,” and many more. Come join us.

Our final Kare Bear Fair will be Saturday, Feb. 5, from 8 a.m. to noon in the SunBird ballroom. Many vendors, a few raffles, coffee and rolls, and an abundance of wild and crazy things on the White Elephant table. And, by the way, as summer approaches and you have nice, used items you wish to donate, contact Joan Bruening at 480-636-0270 to make arrangements to store these donations. No furniture and no clothing. Thank you for the donations. Thank you for supporting the fair!

Our next general meeting is in the ballroom on Wednesday, Feb. 16, at 1 p.m. We will welcome a representative from Hospice of the Valley, and the subject will be consideration of the caregiver. It should be quite informative, so bring any questions you might have. At this meeting, you should submit any suggestions you have for choosing a charity, as the board will be working on payouts for this season.
