The Short Line Model Railroad Club is coming off a busy October and looking forward to the upcoming months ahead, where there is so much more to come. Wishing you all an enjoyable Thanksgiving weekend with friends and family as we head into the holiday season with all the lights and trimmings that go with it to follow shortly. Lots of opportunities to experience new things, places to go, and breathe in that fresh air that is one of the bonus awards we’ve waited for, suffering through those earlier warm summer months. The month starts off with a bang and finishes up with Thanksgiving only days away, when we will be seeing visitors arriving to spend time to share our weather and also spend quality time with families and friends.
You may want to mark your calendar for the Fall Rail Festival that is scheduled for Nov. 12 in Chandler. Parking and admission are free. This will take place at the Arizona Railway Museum, located off Ryan on Arizona Avenue in Chandler, on a Saturday and will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Here you will have the opportunity to relive a little bit of the past at your leisure, with food being available, a souvenir store, and many interesting people to converse with. Our club is planning on participating in this event, and you can visit with us in one of the passenger dining cars, along with many other attractions around the grounds that are available for the young and the old to enjoy.
Locally at SunBird, they will be celebrating their 24th Community Day on Wednesday, Nov. 30. The hours that it will be open are from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Here you will find in the main ballroom, and possibly surrounding areas, many of the active clubs in the area, vendors, and much more available for you to meet up with. In addition to all that, there will be raffles, music, and on the spacious patio outside the ballroom, there will be food and drinks, which will be available to allow you the opportunity to enjoy a quick lunch.
You may want to check your calendars closely, and especially the local monthly publications that come out on the 1st of the month, as they contain so much more that may be of your particular interest. If you have any questions regarding our club membership or other concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us at [email protected] or 480-802-4976.
