Desert Valley Veterans

Commander Rich Volpe

Our commander would like to take a moment to give a word of thanks for the large turnout at our last meeting and for the support we receive as we start a new chapter in our role of supporting veterans in need. Also noted is appreciation for those who volunteered their time helping out with our fundraising efforts over a busy weekend at the local Mesa Market Place. Anything obtained from this effort goes directly back to our veterans, ensuring that our inventory of medical equipment is always available and in tip-top shape when needed.

Our club maintains a large amount of medical equipment and supplies that are available to those in need and can be obtained by simply making a phone call to our commander. This includes a wide variety of medical equipment that can be used for short-term support, plus the availability of some electrically operated wheelchairs and scooters, which can be a means of improving one’s quality of life for years. For more details on this, please feel free to call our local commander at the number stated below.

Our club typically meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month from October through April of the following year. Veterans from all branches of the service are always welcome. It’s a wonderful opportunity to not only give back to those in need, but to meet new friends who may have something in common with your past. Our December meeting will not be held on its scheduled date due to a conflict with one of our major holidays. Have no fear, as on Dec. 11 at 1:30 p.m., our club will be getting together for our annual holiday get-together, which will be at Olive Garden restaurant. Reservations made through our commander are required, and there is a small fee for all attending. For additional details or information on this or any of the above, please feel free to call our commander at the number listed below.

On a rather social note, many of our club members meet weekly for a late lunch at 2 p.m. at Black Bear Diner, which is located off Alma School Road in the upper northeast corner in the Target shopping complex. All veterans are welcome, and in many cases, their wives are happy to join us. Commander Richard Volpe can be reached by phone at 480-802-2532, and he would be happy to chat with you.
