Within days of arriving in November, the Canadians began their busy social season.
First up was the CRAB Golf Tournament: a friendly round of golf with our SunBird neighbours, followed by lunch on the patio. Once again, the Canadians finished second, but we were just a few shots behind the winning American team. No prizes were awarded, and all entry fees are donated to the golf course. Combined with the proceeds from the auction, we raised over $17,000 which the golf club plans to use to purchase an aerator to condition the greens and tee boxes.
Grey Cup, Canada’s Superbowl, was our first major social of the season. Seventy-seven fans followed the game on the big screen TV in the ballroom. At half time, spectators took a break from the tight game to fill up on burgers and dessert. With the majority of the audience from Western Canada, the win by the Calgary Stampeders over Ottawa’s Red Black’s was celebrated here.
Our next social event is the Pork Loin BBQ on February 7. This will be followed by the Great Canadian Golf Tournament on March 17.
Mark your calendars for another great season.
