Garden Club notice

Our club members wish to thank everyone who purchased tickets to our annual Home & Garden Tour held on March 10. Proceeds from the Home & Garden Tour will be spent to continue to beautify our SunBird community. We also wish to thank our gracious homeowners for opening their homes and gardens for you to tour. We are already working to line up homes for the 2020 Home & Garden Tour, so if you are interested or know of a home with unique features, please contact Julie Anderson or Jean Pritchard.

We will have our final business meeting on Friday, April 12, at 9:00 a.m. in the ballroom. After the meeting, members will carpool to the Veterans Oasis Memorial Park to see displays of plants, flowers, hummingbirds and animals found in the park. We will then enjoy a box lunch prepared by the Horizon Room.

Did you know that we have two Boy Scout gardens, both on Augusta Avenue? One is located at the corner of Augusta and Championship, and the other is located just a block further east on Augusta. Several years ago, these gardens were completed by a Boy Scout working on his Eagle Scout award. The Garden Club has taken over the maintenance, and we still refer to them as our Boy Scout gardens.

This has been another great year for our club. We will continue to replace plantings as needed. We also purchase fertilizer, hoses and soil throughout the year for both the HOA and the Golf Course properties. We will work with the HOA Board, as well as the SunBird Golf Board, and offer our assistance, expertise and financial support on a project-by-project basis. We will start up our regular meetings again in November. Until then, we wish everyone a healthy and happy summer.
