The Ladies Community Chit and Chat Group will be displaying beautiful Christmas trees, which are donated from businesses, organizations, and individuals. Last year, this was a success in which the trees were auctioned off and the proceeds were donated to The Perfect Place, which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit adult day care, where many of the participants have some degree of dementia.
Last year, we held this event at the Sun Lakes Medical Center. This year, we cannot use this building for this event. The new location for this year will be the Optum Community Center. We are in the process of sending out the information for the Wonderland of Lights. You can pick up a copy at the Optum Community Center, at 985 W. Chandler Heights Road, Suite 12, in Chandler, for anyone who wants to donate a Christmas tree and then decorate it for this community fundraiser.
The display and decoration of the Christmas trees will start Thursday, Nov. 11, by appointment only, and will end Wednesday, Nov. 17. Bidding will start Thursday, Nov. 18, to be completed by Wednesday, Nov. 24. I, Rose Pachura, coordinator and founder, will be taking the appointments. I can be reached at 480-802-0775. Last year, we had 15 trees. This year, we want to make this event bigger and better.
The Sun Lakes Community wants to make the neighborhood glow with your support this holiday season. Proceeds from the event will support the non-profit The Starbright Foundation (for sex trafficking—no excuse for child abuse or any abuse). Proceeds will also be donated to Neighbors Who Care, a local non-profit.
We need your help to bring a glorious glow, along with joy and laughter, into Sun Lakes/Chandler, especially during this holiday season. Christmas tree lighting will take place Tuesday, Nov. 30, at 10 a.m. The last day to pick up your Christmas tree will be Friday, Dec. 3. Payments can be made in the form of money order, cashier’s check, or cash. No personal checks will be accepted.
A silent auction will be conducted by the Ladies Community Chit and Chat Group. Each tree sold at auction will be identified by the name of their business, organization, or group. A singular donor will have the option of using their name or remaining anonymous.
