In a year like no other, we have begun to notice that a handful of our members from the North have returned to SunBird. As we all have experienced this year, decisions are complicated and our circumstances vary. Somehow, welcoming members back feels like a step in the right direction.
Joy Morgan from Alberta says she is “staying safe so far, wearing a mask and social distancing. I’m finding SunBird to be very cautious and respectful of the COVID rules. Four golf carts for four people works great. Everyone does have to make their own decisions as to what is safe!”
From Saskatchewan, Diane Robinson says, “Brian and I are excited to be back to our little piece of paradise, and look forward to a safe and friendly environment—Happy New Year!”
From British Columbia, Marcie Hogan says that “on November 23, BC protocols required residents to isolate with their household, except if walking with a friend outdoors. Golfing was no longer an option, as the course became soggy and slippery with winter rains. The game was reduced to 100 yards in, and then to a brisk walk along cart paths with nine holes of putting. When our health insurer agreed to COVID coverage, despite the government travel advisory, returning to our sunny SunBird home became the healthy choice, as long as we follow COVID safety measures.”
Jackie Huyghebaert, also of Saskatchewan, says that “We are ‘Super Happy’ to be back in SunBird, our home away from home. Our SunBird friends are like a second family while we are here enjoying the fun in the sun. Thank you for making us feel at home. Please stay safe and healthy during these trying times.”
We continue weekly play on Tuesdays. In February, look for the Ladies Gross Shoot Out on Friday, Feb. 5, at 2 p.m.
