We are excited about hosting a SunBird Tennis Club information table again this year at the upcoming SunBird Community Day on Nov. 30, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please stop by our table for Tennis Club updates and information. We always welcome new members!
In December we will also be introducing a new tennis game to SunBird called “Masters Tennis” and will be offering a demonstration of this exciting new game within the first two weeks of December on our sport courts. Masters Tennis is played with lower compression balls, which move slower, on a smaller court area. There is less court to cover, and the ball speed is easier to keep up with. It first gained popularity in Florida and is heading our way! Be sure to join us on the courts to check it out!
The Social Tennis Tournament season has officially begun! On Oct. 29 we are playing with Sun Lakes against Cottonwood at Cottonwood.
On Nov. 5 we will visit Robson Ranch for some fun in the sun, and from Nov. 6 to 12 Cottonwood is hosting the Bradshaw-Neu Charity Tournament. Be sure to sign up to participate in these events on the tennis board!
Our SunBird Tennis Club Welcome Back Picnic will be held at the sport courts on Nov. 19. Be sure to sign up to play with our tennis buddies and join us for some scrumptious lunch!
Please check your email for current court schedules. There is also a master schedule posted on the tennis information board at the courts. If you wish to reserve courts as a resident, please sign up on the court reservation sheets posted in the tennis glass case at the courts. Sign-ups can be done up to three days in advance.
If you are interested in joining our SunBird Tennis Club, please contact our president, John Schlenker, at 847-525-7648.
Our next meeting will be held on Nov. 1 at 5 p.m. in the Lakeview Room. We will be voting for new board members and other important positions. Be there or be talked about!
