Stop in the Hopi Room on Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. to see a dedicated group of neighbors who are playing with plastic grocery bags. The bags are smoothed, folded, and cut. The cut bags are tied together, and a ball of “plarn” is created. This plastic yarn is then crocheted to create sleeping mats for the homeless and other items to sell to raise funds for St. Vincent Charities.
We welcome everyone to come and help with this project. No experience or skill is needed. We have more bags than we are able to process and, sadly to say, more homeless who need our sleeping mats. We could use your hands to make the fun go smoothly. Stop in on Wednesday and see this amazing process.
