Happy New Year to all. Hope everyone enjoyed the holidays.
At the Tennis Club December meeting all the officers of 2015 volunteered to stay on for year 2016. They are President Dave Walden, Vice President Jen Walden, Secretary Lillian Donley and Treasure Pam Tiffany. No one opposed and the vote was unanimous.
We again enjoyed snacks and wine at the December meeting. Thank you to everyone for their donations and to the club for the wine.
In the month of November, IronOaks sponsored their week-long Bradshaw Tournament and invited all the neighboring clubs to participate. Several SunBird tennis members joined the event and had a wonderful time. IronOaks provided food and drinks every day and were great hosts. Congratulations to the Sunbird players that took home trophies.
They are Men’s 3.5 level 1 – Wayne Newman and his partner placed 2nd. Age 70 and over match – Rich Taylor and partner took 2nd. Ladies level 3.0 – trophy for 2nd was Sylvia Buehler and partner. Ladies 3.5 level 1 – Charlotte Wiard and partner Jo Lucas with 2nd place. Great job.
Remember: sign up for fun play on Saturday mornings at the tennis board. All SunBird residents and renters are invited to play. All levels are encouraged. Free coffee and donuts served.
The January tennis meeting will be held in the Lakeview room on the 5th at 5:00 p.m. Hope to see some new faces ready to join for the New Year and play some tennis.
