Plans are underway for the playing of the 2015 Team Championship Golf Tournament which will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2015. This event, also known as the CRAB Tournament, is a competition between the Canadian Club, the Americans, the Roadrunners Club and the Bandits Club. Thirty foursomes, with each foursome consisting of a player from each club, will face off in a stroke play format with the lowest score earning four points and the highest score, one point. The team with the most points at the end of the tournament is declared the winner.
This tournament is a fundraising event to benefit the SunBird Golf Course. A pre-tournament auction to help in this effort is planned for Friday afternoon, November 20, 2015, on the patio. Times will be published in the November paper and on Pro Shop bulletin boards. The potential success of this auction is dependent on donations of new or used golf items or other items by the golfing community and those who are not golfers.
While this article is somewhat early with respect to the date of the event, its purpose is to give everyone a heads up on planning to play and to look for items to donate for the auction.
For those on the tournament committee, there is a planning meeting scheduled for November 3, 2015, at 9:00 a.m. in the Horizon Room. Questions may be directed to the following committee members: Canadians Wes Akerman and Kenly Matheson; Roadrunners Bill Johnson; Americans Jack Cooper and Bandits Dean Tucker.
