The Team Championship Golf Tournament, also known as the CRAB Tournament, is scheduled to be played on Saturday, November 21 on the SunBird golf course. Participating teams are last year’s champion, the Canadian Club, the Roadrunners, the Americans and the Bandits. A player from each team is assigned to a foursome where they compete in a gross score format. At the end of the round, the player with the low score is awarded four points, the second place, three points etc. with the high score getting one point. At the end of the round the team with the most points from the 30 foursomes is named champion and will have bragging rights for the coming year. The purpose of this tournament is to generate funds for the support of SunBird golf course projects. To sign up for the tournament, please look for notices on the various club bulletin boards or contact the following team captains: Canadians – Wes Akerman or Kenly Matheson; Roadrunners – Bill Johnson; Americans – Jack Cooper; and Bandits – Dean Tucker.

A significant part of this event is the pre-tournament auction which will be held on Friday, November 20. The tournament committee is pleased to once again welcome back Joel Sybesma who will lead the bidding process. Joel is a very talented and entertaining auctioneer. The auction will take place on the Clubhouse patio and is open to all.

To make this auction a success, donations of items to be sold are needed from the community of golfers and those that have an interest in the golf course. Such items can include new or used golf clubs or equipment, household goods, tools, gift baskets, gift cards or service certificates from local businesses or other items that are no longer needed or are taking up space in your home. Used items should be in reasonably good condition. Please contact one of the team captains or the Pro Shop for delivery of your donation. Also check the pro shop bulletin boards for final starting times for both the tournament and the auction.
