SunBird Pickleball Club Charity Tournament

The SunBird Pickleball Club hosted the Seventh Annual Pickle4Purple Charity Pickleball tournament to raise money to research cures for Alzheimer’s/dementia, as well as provide funding to help caregivers. Funds raised go to the Alzheimer’s Association. We could not have done this without the generosity of our community. Many people donated valuable time and money for this cause. The total amount raised for the Alzheimer’s Association was $21,791.25. The club will also donate $1,000 to the SunBird HOA Neighbors Helping Neighbors fund. Over the course of the past eight years, the SunBird Pickleball Club has raised over $73,821 for this cause.

Numerous people came out to volunteer on the courts, at registration, and on the scoreboard. The raffle was simply over the top. Amazing prizes were created and donated by people all over the community and the East Valley. Tickets were sold by more than 40 people graciously volunteering to take two-hour shifts. More than 80 prizes were won by people who purchased raffle tickets. The raffle raised a total of $7,995.

Players laughed and cried and had a blast competing in their divisions. We had players from Bisbee, Ariz.; Naples, Fla.; New Mexico; Arizona Pickleball Association; as well as local picklers. Many SunBird picklers made it to the podium this year!

The SunBird Pickleball Club would like to thank everyone in our community for their support during this event.

There is Power When We Come Together. No action is too small; no gift is too little. When we enter the battle together, we make a difference. We hope to see all of you at next year’s event. (Please save the date for the last weekend in February of 2025.)
