Lions in Action for Service Day
Arlene Block
On April 10 the SunBird Lions Club sponsored an event to help those in need and the Chandler community.
Items that were collected were medical supplies (canes, wheelchairs, commodes, walkers), eyeglasses (both sun and regular), aluminum cans, cellphones, hearing aids, food items, paper goods, pet foods, plus many generous monetary donations. We want to thank the outpouring of people who came together to deliver items.
A raffle ticket was given to those who stopped by, and a beautiful plant, which was donated by the SunBird Garden Club, was raffled. The winners were Liz Roads, Faye Asmundson, Dave De Blois, Eugene Dunbar, Karen Snowden, and Randy Haeffner.
This was so successful that we plan to do it again. Please save all your items to donate. You can leave items in the SunBird office, or if you have food items that are unopened and within date, you can drop them in the Lions Club bin in the Poster Room in SunBird.
Aluminum cans can be placed in the marked blue SunBird Lions Club receptacles around the facility. Please do not place any other items in these receptacles.
Thank you to everyone for helping with this fundraiser.

SunBird Lions Club Food Drive
The SunBird Lions Club collects unopened, unexpired, non-perishable food items; paper supplies; and pet food to help those in need. The Lions work with AZCEND Food Pantry in Chandler.
Please check the dates on your food items. Expired foods are not accepted.
We have a container in the Poster Room in the SunBird clubhouse.
If you are leaving for the summer months or just have excess items you want to share, there are many people who would love to have them. Let’s help those who are less fortunate.
If you have a large quantity of items or are unable to bring them to the clubhouse, please call Lion Guy Lund at 480-766-1497.
SunBird Lions Club Needs Your Help
Arlene Block
The SunBird Lions Club is in need of slightly used medical equipment. Lion Paula Warhoover has noted that one of the items that is very much in demand is wheelchairs.
If you have medical equipment that you do not need, please contact Lion Paula at 618-806-2464 to make arrangements for pick-up or delivery.
Together we can help those in need.

We collected 153 pounds of food items for AZCEND Food Pantry, 83 pairs of eyeglasses, 10 sets of hearing aids, 19 cell phones, 2 giant bags of aluminum cans, and $118 in monetary donations.
Our collections are ongoing and can be given to any SunBird Lion or brought to the SunBird office, or foods can be dropped off in our containers in the Poster Room at the clubhouse.
