The SunBird Lions elves were able to deliver more than 200 gifts to Hartford Sylvia Encinas Elementary School. This school educates students from preschool through sixth grade, and they have approximately 740 students enrolled.
The SunBird Lions would like to express their gratitude for all the donations of toys and money and, most of all, the shopping expertise. Every Hot Wheels car, various sport balls, dolls, stuffed animals, games, and other toys make the holiday just a little brighter for these students.
Bingo Nights with the SunBird Lions
The Lions host Bingo on the first and third Friday of every month in the ballroom. Bingo cards are available for purchase beginning at approximately 5:45 p.m., and the first number is called at 6:30 p.m. This event offers a wonderful way to spend your evening, and your participation directly supports the Lions and their many charitable projects.
Flag Program
Several times throughout the year, members of the Lions Club along with dedicated volunteers come together to repair and replace any damaged flags. This ongoing maintenance ensures that every flag is in excellent condition and ready for the next installation.
As a part of this program, the Lions will install a flag at your home and remove it seven times a year, each time coinciding with a special holiday. This is a meaningful way for residents to display their patriotism and show support for the Lions’ fundraising efforts.
If you are interested in participating in the program, applications can be picked up at the HOA office. The suggested annual donation for this service is $45.
Celebrate with the SunBird Flamingos
The SunBird Lions maintain a flock of Pink Flamingos that brings joy and excitement to special occasions for SunBird residents. Whether it’s a birthday, anniversary, or another significant milestone, the Flamingos are available to help make these moments unforgettable.
Arranging a visit from the flock is simple. Residents can contact Jan Engdahl, the keeper of the Flamingos, at 602-562-0511 to set up a special surprise. Jan will ensure that the “flock” arrives the evening before the celebration and departs the following evening, providing a delightful experience for the honoree and guests.
A $25 donation is required to have the Flamingos help commemorate your special event. This contribution supports the SunBird Lions and their ongoing community efforts.
Recently, the Flamingos were spotted around South Cypress Point where they helped celebrate an 80th birthday, bringing smiles and festive cheer to the neighborhood.
SunBird Lions Medical Equipment Loan Program
The SunBird Lions offer a valuable service to residents by maintaining a collection of medical equipment available for loan. This assortment includes wheelchairs, walkers, knee scooters, crutches, and a variety of other helpful items. These resources are provided to support SunBird residents who may have temporary or ongoing medical needs.
