Mary Pilon, Secretary
Lots of excitement during the month of March for us Irishmen. Our monthly meeting was held on March 1 in the Horizon Room. Maurice Stein reported on the shuffleboard outing that was attended by 21 members and the winners were Darlene Google who won an Irish sweatshirt and Don Calvert who won a SunBird tag for his golf cart. Thanks to Leo Buries, the cook for the event. He was a great cook and the food was great.
We elected new officers for the 2016-1017 season. Walt Kinney agreed to continue as our President. Mary Pilon will be our new Vice President. James Gascoyne will remain the Treasurer and Mary Alibrandi will be our new Secretary.
On Wednesday, March 16, our annual corned beef and cabbage dinner was served. It was catered by the Horizon Room and we were entertained by a young group of Irish dancers.
On Thursday, March 17, we celebrated St. Paddy’s Day with our first (and maybe last) annual Irish Club golf parade at 1:00 with judging of the best decorated cart by our official Grand Marshal, Layne Varney. After the parade we continued to celebrate on the patio.
Sadly, the Irish Club lost one of its long-time members in February. Sincere sympathy to Marti Stanton in the loss of her husband, Harry. Harry will be greatly missed.
Our season ends on April 5 with a patio party at 4:00 p.m. Our first meeting in the fall will be on October 3 at 6:00 p.m. in the Horizon Room. We warmly welcome new members.
