Mary Pilon, Publicity
Well, well, well … the Irish Club has officially opened the new season with a meeting held on the patio on Oct. 4. Much was accomplished at the meeting. Most importantly, we have a new president and treasurer to complete the four-member board. Val Bongiorno is our new president, and our new treasurer is Mary Alibrandi. Best wishes for a successful and fun-filled term. Val and Mary join Ray Simone, our vice president, and Stevie Simone, our secretary. Also, George Richardson volunteered to be in charge of the 50/50 games. We still need two people to organize the $1 game.
The by-laws of the club were written in 2000. The board will update and revise these rules. The proposals will be given at the November meeting, and a vote from the members will be taken at the December meeting. The 50/50 game was won by Ann Woodarczyk, who took home $38. Pat Seabert won $23 in the $1 game. Congratulations to both lucky members.
Mark your calendars. The November meeting will be held on Thursday, Nov. 4, at 4 p.m. on the SunBird patio. Please remember to bring canned food and nonperishable items for St. Mary’s Food Bank. There will be a sign-up sheet for the meeting and for food after the meeting in the clubhouse. We will be accepting new members at this meeting.
One last item: The Christmas Party is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 11, in the Horizon Room. Further details will be available at the November meeting.
It’s going to be a great season, guys. With our new board members joining Ray and Stevie, it’s bound to be a busy, fun group of the Sons of Erin.
Should I end with an Irish joke? Not this month.
For a change, I will leave you with this thought. Whenever you get behind in chores, errands, or whatever, and it causes stress, think about this: “Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.”
See you next month. Happy Halloween!
