SunBird Golf Course Adds Landscaping Rock

Golfers Don Hunt and Jim Anderson admire the new landscaping rock at the perimeter of holes 13 and 14 on SunBird Golf Course.

The Golf Club recently added landscaping rock around the perimeter of holes 13 and 14 and around the exterior of the restroom. Many thanks to the Golf Club maintenance crew, plus Kelly Davis and his crew of faithful volunteers, for shoveling, loading, and placing the rock.

At the SunBird Golf Club annual meeting held Feb. 23, Trent Johnson and Todd Brautigam were elected to the Golf Club Board of Directors. Many thanks to Sandy Crane and Ed Leonard for their years of service on the board. The board also announced plans to upgrade the driving range this summer by filling in the valleys and preparing the entire driving range for overseed. The range has purposely been left dormant for the past several years due to financial constraints and concern for water conservation. However, having dormant grass has led to increased dust and difficulty in picking golf balls off the range. Health concerns regarding increased dust led to the decision to overseed the entire driving range in October when the rest of the golf course fairways, tees, and greens will be seeded with rye grass.

Thank you to the many volunteers who have helped the Golf Club this season by moving tees, shoveling rock, painting, pulling weeds, edging the cart paths, and filling in divots. We appreciate you!
