“If there are poor among you in one of the towns of the lands the Lord your God is giving you, do not be selfish or greedy toward them. But give freely to them and freely lend them whatever they need.” Deuteronomy 15:7-8
A brother in Christ might need clothes or food. If you say to that person, “God be with you! I hope you stay warm and get plenty to eat, but you do not give what that person needs, words are worth nothing.” James 1:27
We residents of SunBird know full well what it means to give and receive help. In our newspaper we read notes that thank our residents for help in times of sickness and death. These acts of support are done with no remuneration in mind. And how many more people assist others that we never hear about? God challenges us to help people in need. A special reward in Heaven most certainly awaits those who do.
Did you know the SunBird Church monetarily supports various charities? Among them are Global Training Network, Sunshine Acres, Hospice of the Valley, St. Mary’s Food Bank and St. Matthew’s Crossing.
On Thursday, June 25 our church sponsored an event that was both well attended and unique. In the small pool in SunBird, several people were baptized by Reverends Jim Baugh and David Walker. Another baptism will be held in the winter and anyone, regardless of church affiliation, is welcome.
Ministers for August:
August 2 – David Walker
August 9 – Ryan Stephens
August 16 – Marv Jacobs
August 23 – Jim Baugh
August 30 – Terry Gott
SunBird Community Church invites you to visit any Sunday at 9:00 a.m. in the Ballroom. You will hear a well prepared message by one of our visiting ministers. Our church is non-denominational and Bible based. Come join us. Our Lord may be wondering where you’ve been.
