In December our club celebrated our Christmas Party in the Lakeview Room. The dinner was prepared by the Horizon Room staff and our new manager Joe Turly. The dinner consisted of a tossed salad, chicken schnitzel, mashed potatoes, and glazed carrots. Dessert was chocolate cake with a peppermint frosting.
Our club members were thoroughly pleased with the dinner. We wish to thank Joe and his staff for an outstanding dinner and service!
Our January meeting on the 25th was a game night, and Treva was in charge of Bunco. She did an excellent job.
Prior to the pandemic, we were exploring in our monthly news article the states that exist in Germany presently. Over the next few months, I shall begin again to share information about these states. Again, they are: 1) Hesse, 2) Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony), 3) Nordrhein-westfalen, 4) Rheinland-Palatinate, 5) Baden-Wuerttemberg, 6) Bayern (Bavaria), 7) Thuringia, 8) Saxony, 9) Saxony-Anhalt, 10) Brandenburg, 11) Berlin, 12) Bremen, 13) Mecklenburg, 14) Saarland, 15) Schleswig-Holstein, and 16) Hamburg.
Note to anyone interested in joining our club: It is open to any SunBird resident who is interested in German culture. Dues are $10 per year, and we meet the fourth Tuesday of the month, September through April.
Our next meeting is Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 6 p.m. in the Lakeview Room.
