Well, looks like no waiting on the golf course these days! However, it’s that time of year when those who play go out so early, I’m not sure they are really awake yet.
Remember to send me your stories of golf while away. I would love to share them with all of our ladies and SunBird residents.
As most of you have already heard, our SunBird Ladies Club Champion is Cindy Vig – Congratulations for a stunning win, as well as to all who participated in a fun, yet challenging two-week tournament.
We celebrated the end of our season by playing a step aside scramble with the Men’s club! Thank you to the Men’s club for a very fun day of play and for a fabulous BBQ followed by awards. It was a perfect day!
The Couples Gross Shoot Out was a close one! It was one of the best shootouts yet. The audience had a great show, and the teams were on pins and needles a few times. Congratulations to Heather Verbitsky and Dick Tiffany for their first-place win! Cindy Vig and Don Hunt came in second while Margie Leach and Dean Huyghebart took third place. Thank you to all the players for a fabulous show of some extremely good golf!
Now to back up a few months, as it seems I somehow missed mentioning that one of our new members had her first hole-in-one. This happened on a Monday so no Tuesday payout, but because she was subbing for me, I thought maybe she would share the “pro-shop” winnings with me, only to find out she did not have her quarter in the pot. She now puts a quarter in every time she plays! Did I mention this was not just any hole-in-one – she nailed hole No. 3! 130 yards with her 9 wood. Who does that? Suzanne Popelka, that’s who! Congratulations on a stellar shot, Suzanne – now get out there and do it again!
This year, due to a change in staffing at the golf course, we are not having an official “some ladies golfing” club, so grab three of your friends, neighbors or ladies from the club and put together your own foursomes during the summer.

Go visit SunBird friends around the States and Canada
Play golf . . . and then do it all again
Wherever you are playing, hit ‘em long and straight, but most of all have fun!
