Since 2013, a fixture in the SunBird golf schedule and a major fundraiser for the golf course has been the CRAB or Team Championship Tournament and the accompanying auction, typically held in November. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 events had to be postponed and were held last spring. The auction event was changed to a silent auction and was held on Waterview by the putting green. There is good news! The tournament and auction are back. As of this writing, the tournament is scheduled for Nov. 20 and the auction for Nov. 19. The tournament will be a different format than the Team Championship, details of which will be forthcoming in future articles. The auction will again be a live auction, and will be back on the patio.
The auction committee will again be headed up by John and Marsha Brockish. As in the past, the items to be auctioned are donated by members of the golfing and non-golfing community alike, and by local merchants. It is through these donations that the past auctions have been so successful. While the auction and tournament are more than two months away, the committee would like to get started on collecting donations, so if you would like to make a donation or have questions or a desire to help, please contact John or Marsha at 480-759-0742.
Donated items may include bicycles, tools, golf equipment, baked goods, gift certificates, gift cards, housewares, paintings, and other items that are no longer used or needed. Large items that would be difficult to move to the patio may be shown with a photo.
All members of the SunBird community are invited to make donations and to participate in the bidding on these donations. All proceeds will benefit our beautiful SunBird Golf Course.
