Teacher Awards

Dr. Honora Norton

Rotary Club of Sun Lakes (RCSL) presented its August 2024 Teacher of the Month Award to Sophie Steadman, CUSD Hamilton High School French teacher, and its September 2024 Teacher of the Month Award to Kim Meyer, CUSD Arizona College Prep Middle School science teacher.

According to RCSL Education Chair Gary Kay, the award selection is based on a teacher’s total years of service in the field of education; examples of how the teacher goes above the normal requirements and enhances student education; the respect shown for the teacher by his/her peers, students, and parents; and the teacher’s involvement in extracurricular activities and service in the community. A $700 check is awarded to the honored teacher: $200 from RCSL, $400 from Earnhardt Automotive Center, and $100 from Trust Bank.

The Rotary Club of Sun Lakes (RCSL) held its annual Welcome Back Picnic Social at Sisk Park on Oct. 22. Many of the close to 90 RCSL members have returned to the East Valley after spending the summer at their summer homes, summer vacations/travels, and/or visiting family and friends. Per RCSL Event Chair Kristine Schultz, the members and their guests enjoyed Bashas’ chicken and a potluck feast, with entertainment by its special Rotarian, Scott Faver, professional DJ, MC, KJ, VJ, game master, and entertainer for The Party Favers.
