At the September 22 SunBird HOA Board meeting the Board of Directors approved a Reconfiguration Pool Project designed to increase the size of our existing swimming pool at the clubhouse. There will be a section of the new pool dedicated for swimming use at all times, along with an adjoining activities pool section that will be used for volleyball, aerobics, lap swimming and more. Additionally, a new restroom, second shower, enlarged spa, ADA chair lifts in the pool and spa, three 15 foot shade umbrellas, new deck tile and more will be added. Construction is anticipated to begin May 1, 2015 and is expected to be finished by August 31, 2015.
The Board of Directors decided to finance this project by: 1) using the current funds in the Capital Improvement Fund; 2) fees collected from each future house sold to a new homeowner; and, 3) by a special assessment of current SunBird homeowners. Fortunately, the majority of the project will be funded by the Capital Improvement Fund and fees collected from houses sold to new homeowners.
As of August 31, 2014 the Capital Improvement Fund Balance is $247,706; a special assessment of $110 per home ($55 due November 1, 2014 and May 1, 2015) $179,300; projected contributions to Capital Improvement Fund from home sales $70,875, equals total funding of $497,881. The special assessment to each SunBird homeowner will be $110 payable to the SunBird Golf Resort office in two equal payments of $55 each. The first payment will be due November 1, 2014, with the second payment due May 1, 2015. The entire $110 special assessment can be paid in full on November 1, 2014 if you would like. Some homeowners have also inquired about making additional contributions to be applied toward the pool project which are always appreciated – you can include those with either your November or May payment.
This is an exciting time for SunBird Golf Resort as we continue our efforts to improve the quality of amenities provided to our present homeowners while demonstrating to be a progressive community for prospective future homeowners.
Thank you for your support.
