The Lady 18ers held their two-week net tournament, called the SunBird Cup, on Feb. 14 and 21. The first day of the tournament, Feb. 14, was very cold and windy, but that didn’t stop a number of the ladies from getting on the course. Congratulations to Dolly White who “calculated the wind” and got a hole-in-one on hole 13 that day. This was her third hole-in-one, with the last one being only five months ago on hole 17.

The second day of the tournament, Feb. 21, was a very cold and rainy day, but that didn’t stop many of the women from getting out to finish the tournament. Congratulations to Karen DeLong who had a strong finish and came in first place, and will have her name engraved on the SunBird trophy. Margaret Munsch came in second place, and Karen Gilmore came in third place. Thank you to Shirley Hunt and her team for organizing the tournament and to the ladies for coming out to compete in such poor weather conditions.

The ladies held their monthly breakfast meeting on March 7, with many dressing up in green in support of St. Patrick’s Day and a game of “Irish Four Ball,” which followed. The group enjoyed a tasty breakfast served up by the Horizon Room and had a 50/50 drawing to raise funds for year-end awards decorations. Lisa Onyx, Joan Kintz, and Joyce Gerber each won $25. In addition, there were some serious business issues addressed at the meeting, including electing the new slate of officers for the 2023-24 golf season. They are President Jean Pritchard, Vice President Jeanie Chase, Secretary Julie Anderson, and Treasurer Kim Mishko.

Thank you to all who have volunteered to run our Ladies League, past and present. The energy, ideas, and sheer brilliance each person brings builds our league stronger and more successful each year.

The Lady 18ers had their Club Championship on March 14 and 21 and Year-End Windup with the Men’s League on March 24. Looking ahead, the Annual Awards are scheduled for April 4.
