Bob Morris, Board Liaison, SunBird Rules Committee
Like many of SunBird’s rules and regulations, we align with the City of Chandler’s ordinances. The city’s leash law clearly states that dogs must be on a leash no longer than six feet.
We have observed that some pet owners are using extendable leashes that allow dogs to roam beyond this limit. While convenient, these longer leashes can create several concerns. Pets may wander into neighbors’ yards, onto roadways, or into the space of other residents and their leashed pets who may not welcome such interactions. This can also be uncomfortable for individuals who prefer to keep their distance from animals.
Although most pet owners responsibly clean up after their pets, allowing a dog to enter another person’s yard—even to retrieve waste—is inappropriate and does not comply with city regulations or SunBird’s community guidelines.
To ensure the safety, comfort, and respect of all residents, please use a leash no longer than six feet and maintain control of where your pet roams at all times.
If you have any questions, please contact the HOA office.
