The Sun Lakes Democratic Club meeting will be held Monday, July 9, 2018, at 7:00 p.m., in the Navajo Room of the Sun Lakes Country Club, located at 25601 E. Sun Lakes Blvd. N.
The speakers will be Kelly Fryer, Candidate for Arizona Governor; Matt Orlando, Candidate for Chandler City Council; and Isabel Hiserodt, Rep, March for Our Lives.
Our July meeting provides an opportunity to meet candidates running for office in the August primary. We will also hear more about the March for Our Lives movement.
Kelly Fryer is running for the Democratic nomination for Arizona Governor. Kelly’s background is diverse – a former small business owner, a Lutheran minister, a former Executive Director of Arizona List and now CEO of the YWCA of Southern Arizona – positions that will help her at the executive level of government.
Matt Orlando is running for a seat on the Chandler City Council. Matt has previously served two terms on the Council and now retired from Honeywell, is running again to serve his community. For those living in Chandler, please come meet and hear Matt as the race may be decided in the August election.
The March for Our Lives movement was born out of the Parkland, Florida, massacre in February. Students and young people have said “Enough is enough” and are mobilizing for the upcoming election to ensure our leaders are taking action on common sense gun safety measures.
The Sun Lakes Democratic Club collects non-perishable food items for Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank. Please bring your tax-deductible contributions to the drop off area in the west parking lot from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Ask for a receipt. The club donated 145 pounds of food and $40.00 cash for April. The totals for 2018, so far, are 463 pounds of food and $197.00 cash. We appreciate all you do.
All are welcome. Light refreshments are served. For more information, call Dolly Loftin at 480-200-3322.
