Happy New Year! Where did 2025 go? It’s hard to believe that another year has come and gone and the new year 2026 is upon us. This past year was an exciting and fun-filled year with memorable shows, activities, and events at SunBird. SunBird has had a wonderful holiday season with excellent concerts, shows, parades, banquets, and other festive events. This is just the beginning. The real pace picks up this month, with several recreational and sport leagues, social groups, classes, and other events already starting for the season. Walking around the clubhouse on any given day one can see the community in action. The sport courts are in full use with pickleball and tennis. Around the shuffleboard courts, one can hear the ever-so-quiet sliding of the discs followed by the clank into the opposing team’s discs to gain better positioning. In the morning and afternoons, one can hear the roar of the water volleyball players in the swimming pool cheering each other on or the upbeat music of the water aerobics classes. Walking through the clubhouse, sometimes you can hear the loud beat of the drums from the cardio drum aerobics class from the ballroom or the SunBird Singers having choir practice or the clank of the balls from the Billiards Room. Walking through the upper level of the clubhouse, one can observe card games and other games in progress or see people working on individual ceramic pieces or people in the Lapidary Room making acrylic pieces and other artwork. As you get towards the end of the hallway, one can smell the good food being prepared in the restaurant kitchen for the patrons. From the Horizon Room, the view is spectacular, with the golf course, mountain ranges, and beautiful evening sunsets. At the clubhouse one can also participate in or watch the season of bean bag baseball team play or cornhole. Wandering further along Championship Drive, one can find a group always playing on the bocce ball courts in the annual SunBird league play. Finishing back at the clubhouse ballroom, one can enjoy many shows, concerts, and events hosted throughout the season. Something is always going within SunBird!
