This past month, SunBird was hit by a large-size monsoon storm followed by a few others. The storm brought strong gusts of wind with a huge brown cloud of dirt that dropped debris all over the area. Several trees and branches were damaged, with debris scattered all over. Rain from the storms created a muddy mess in the roads, patios, pools, and parking lots. The clubhouse swimming pool was trashed, with pool furniture all over, dirt and other debris covering the pool floor. The cleanup time and opening the swimming pool was obviously extended to make sure the pool was safe and chemicals properly balanced. This work was completed just to have this same mess return several times, with additional storms arriving at SunBird shortly thereafter. We appreciate our maintenance and landscape staff for immediately engaging into action to clear the cart paths, common areas, clean the sport courts, patios, swimming pools, and clubhouse as quickly as possible.
Road maintenance work around the clubhouse, main roads to the clubhouse, parking lots, and some sections of Unit 6 has been completed. A sealcoating treatment was applied curb to curb, adding oils and other materials to the surface of the asphalt. This assists to protect it from the elements and prolong the life expectancy of the roads. New utility installation work along Championship Road from the gatehouse to Doral Drive has been completed. The contractor who performed this work has repaired the holes and cuts made into the road and will be finishing this area with a fresh, new sealcoat treatment of these roads curb to curb. It was anticipated that this could be completed with the other road work in SunBird. Once the scheduling has been approved, notice will be provided by eblast and posted on SunBird’s website.
Many projects around the clubhouse have been completed this summer. The main lobby windows have been replaced and upgraded. New LED light fixtures were installed along the main hallway. The flat roof over the upper hallway section of the clubhouse has been completely replaced. Landscape lighting around the swimming pool has been replaced with low-voltage LED lights. Swimming pool deck drains have been replaced. The jacuzzi water line tile and depth markers have also been removed and replaced. The clubhouse swimming pool gates, doors, signs, and paver deck have all been either painted, cleaned, or replaced. Recessed light fixtures outside of the clubhouse balconies and patios have all been upgraded to LED lights. Horizon Room flooring in the dining area and kitchen have all been professionally cleaned. Elevator flooring was replaced. The Fitness Room has upgraded televisions with a new streaming cable system geared to fitness centers. Additional cameras have been installed around the clubhouse to cover some high-traffic areas and fill in void spaces of coverage. The south side of the clubhouse blue trim underneath the balconies and in other areas has all been repainted. The Riggs Road vehicle gate operating system was replaced under warranty. New and additional water shut-off valves were installed throughout the entire clubhouse. Lots of work was completed, and more is still in progress.
As the weather is starting to cool down, the season switches gears to full throttle. Residents who have left for the summer begin returning to SunBird. This year, many concerts, shows, and events have been planned for an exciting and memorable year. We welcome all to join in the various festivities and fun that SunBird has to offer. We look forward to having SunBird back to full capacity with all our friends and neighbors. SunBird is a great place to live!
