Line Dancing with Judee

Judee Curtis

You’re never too old to learn is validated by me when looking up dances. I learned how many “Elviras” there were, so I checked out “Electric Slide” and “Boot Scootin’ Boogie.” Out of more than 10 “Electric Slides,” two were the same with different choreographers. When I saw 48 Step Sheets for “Boot Scootin’ Boogie,” I decided I was “over thinking” line dancing!

One does not want to “over think” when learning anything, including golf, tennis, etc. However, “thinking” is good for us who do line dancing. Many studies validate LD as a very good activity for people who want to keep their “brains active” plus you are getting physical exercise. You do have to be “taught” LD because “following” does not give you the opportunity to “learn.” “Teaching” is the very reason I have many dancers who started and have danced with me for years say they don’t want me to change. In our area, there is the opportunity to choose classes to dance. It’s also beneficial to know the method of teaching line dancing before you register and if they are taking “brand new dancers.” Now you know mine and I would love to have you join me/us if you want to be “taught” and still have fun!

Register now or before the end of August for the Ultra Basic Class to start on September 3 (yes, Labor Day) in the SunBird ballroom for $2 by calling 480-802-0201 after 10:00 a.m. New registrations will be taken until the end of October. After that, they will be for January, 2019. Exceptions could be if you have had many years of line dancing classes and experience. Ultra Basics is a prerequisite for all new dancers, as it gives you the time to get used to my method of teaching. You also have the opportunity to move up a level when you are able to learn more difficult dances.

It is so rewarding to see the progress of dancers who started with me, dancers who came to me from other classes and hear, “That was fun!” “Let’s do that dance again!” “I love the way you teach.” “My friend wants to come.” After 18 years of teaching line dancing, “If it’s not broke, don’t fix it!” God Bless Line Dancing. Dilly, Dilly!
