Lady Niners Celebrate 30 Years

Teri Bitler

Ladies League Is About Golf … Yes, But Also Much More! Yes, we swing clubs. Yes, we chase golf balls. And, yes, we occasionally mutter at the ones that refuse to go where we told them. But the real magic happens in the tee-box laughter, the car-ride storytelling, the cheers after surviving a “growth opportunity” hole, and the joy of seeing familiar faces on Tuesday mornings. The truth is simple: golf gets us out there and friendships keep us coming back. As the birthdays stack up, we treasure every chance to move, laugh, connect, and stay a part of something bigger than the scorecard. Ladies nine-hole league starts with golf, but it blossoms into community, tradition, and a weekly dose of happiness.

If this sounds like your kind of fun, we encourage you to join the SunBird Lady Niners as we begin our 30th year of league play. We play Tuesday mornings from November through April, following official rules as a sanctioned Arizona Golf Association league. Weekly games count toward your GHIN, but the friendships count even more.

Tuesday, Nov. 3 is the starting date for the Niners 2026-27 league season. This year on Nov. 17, the Niners will host the annual Lady Niners/Eighteeners scramble for a fun-filled morning of golf and camaraderie.

Details on joining are posted on the bulletin board near the Pro Shop entrance. If you have any questions or need more information, please contact President Sue Froelich at 618-7511-3261.
