Korean War Veteran’s News and Happenings

Leon “Skip” Johnson, Chapter Commander

It is certainly a nice change to see the local area communities, as well as the surrounding areas, come to life with the weather starting to really cooperate and most outdoor activities picking up, as we move closer to the holiday season. With Thanksgiving only days away, we can expect several visitors showing up to spend time with family and friends. Hopefully, things continue to follow in a positive direction as we move on to close out a challenging year that we all will be leaving behind.

The Korean War Veterans have resumed their monthly meetings, which are held on the fourth Wednesday of the month at the IHOP restaurant located on Arizona Avenue off Ocotillo, in Chandler, Ariz. The meetings start at 10:30 a.m., and lunch is optional, following the meetings at the restaurant. On a weekly basis, several club members continue to meet for lunch at IHOP on Tuesdays at 2 p.m., to stay in touch and keep current with the latest changes.

In times of need, it may be wise to have our commander’s phone number handy, as the club does maintain an assortment of medical supplies that can be made available in the event of an unexpected emergency. Newly added to this inventory are two electric wheelchairs, which can be made available to someone who is either handicapped or has a temporary disability requiring a need for added mobility for a short period of time.

For any questions regarding the club’s activities or anything else, please feel free to call our chapter commander, and he’ll be happy to help you or get you in touch with one of the members who has access to additional information on anything mentioned above. He can be reached at 970-481-3005.
