December was filled with lots of fun times for the members of the Art Club.
A group of us enjoyed going to the Hidden in the Hills Art Tour in Carefree. This unique tour took us into the homes and studios of some of the most accomplished artists in the greater Phoenix area. Talk about inspiration!
We also gathered together for our annual Christmas party hosted by Emily and Gerald Hardy featuring a yummy potluck and wonderful live music to sing along with Elaine Friesen and her magic fingers on the keyboard! As we put away our decorations and reflect on the wonderful shared times with friends, we are now focusing on some great opportunities coming up this year. We were lucky enough to book artist Judith Durr who will be instructing us in oils creating a lovely still life and also making herself available to critique individuals on a project of their choice sharing her expertise to help us turn a project into something special. This class is scheduled for February 21 and as of this writing there are still a few spots available.
We are also hoping to book another of our favorite artists from Carefree to conduct another class – he is amazing! To top all this off, we are busy completing our challenge for this year entitled “Time.” With such a broad subject it will be fun to see how each of us interprets this theme into our individualized art. If anyone is thinking about looking into joining this friendly and vibrant club, we do critiques and lunch on the third Thursday of each month in the Hopi Room. Stop on by and get acquainted.
