In Passing – April 2015

Ethel Mae Crohn

Ethel Mae Crohn, age 84, recently of Cumming, GA passed peacefully February 23, 2015 and joined her Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven. She was also reunited with her parents Fred and Julia Wenzel, sisters Millie, June and Berniece, granddaughter Shannon as well as other friends and loved ones who went before her.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Elmer Crohn, children Dana (Linda) Crohn, Allen (Linda) Crohn, David (Leslie) Crohn, Angela Crohn, Duane (Christy) Crohn, eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, sister Gloria (Ivars) Kuals and brother Fred (Marion) Wenzel.

Ethel was born and raised in Columbus Township, MN where she met and married her high school sweetheart Elmer in 1949. In 2014 they recognized 65 years of marriage and renewed their vows in the presence of friends and family in their Chandler, AZ neighborhood.

She was known for her storytelling and could regale children and grandchildren for hours with her fascinating and entertaining stories about growing up on a farm and through her adulthood as a mother and career woman. The conclusion of each story was typically met with a plea to “tell another one!”

Ethel was quite the social butterfly who made friends everywhere she went and shared her interests in cards, bowling, golfing and quilting with friends as well as her husband. Although we celebrate her release from this world into the loving arms of Jesus, she will be missed deeply by the very many family and friends who survive her for a very long time to come.

“When Christ shall come, with shout of acclimation/And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart/Then I shall bow, in humble adoration/And then proclaim, my God, how great Thou art!”

The family received friends and family at South Canton Funeral Home. The funeral took place on Saturday, February 28 with Pastor Barry Crocker officiating. Ethel was interred at the National Cemetery in Canton by her family. v
