Holidays Are in the Air

Harry Huckemeyer

The Short Line Model Railroad Club is coming off a couple of busy months, and we’re looking toward the near future when there is so much to look forward to. We wish you all an enjoyable Thanksgiving weekend with friends and family as we head into the holiday season, which is filled with all the trimmings and lights that add to the festivities. The fine weather that we experience during these months affords us all the opportunity to enjoy everything this area has to offer. There are many choices to satisfy the appetite of all, both locally and a short distance away.

Normally, our club would be participating at the Arizona Railroad Museum this month, but due to construction activity in the area, this has been put on hold. Hopefully, that will change in the near future. Several of the local Community Days have already been held throughout the month of October, but there is still one in the area that you may want to check out. The date of SunBird Golf Resort’s Open House is Nov. 13. It will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The location will be in the large ballroom area, and adjacent to it is a large open patio overlooking the pool with tables and chairs. I’m sure refreshments will be available at the patio during the hours of the event.

For many who have visitors over the holidays, I would keep an eye on the local publications, which contain a wealth of information about upcoming events and the many clubs that play a large part for many residents. It is that time of the year to enjoy the fine weather that we are fortunate to have and to get out in the fresh air and enjoy what this great state has to offer.

If you have any questions regarding our club’s membership, please feel free to call or send me a text that I can respond to. I can be reached at 480-600-1349.
