Great Canadian Golf Tournament

The cooks: Roger Carle, Que Chang, Wes Akerman, Gail Morris, Sandy Muyres, and Vickie Earl

Following a two-year hiatus, 150 Canadians enjoyed a sunny afternoon of music, comradery, and our traditional pork loin BBQ dinner. An added feature this year was the band Rusty Nails providing live music, which was very much appreciated by the crowd.

“Summer Camp” was how someone once described the Canadian annual pilgrimage to SunBird, and that was certainly how this social event felt. Dancing, singing, and reminiscing with fellow Canadians in our community is what it was all about.

Our final Canadian event, the Great Canadian Golf Tournament, takes place on March 19 with 7 a.m. registration and an 8 a.m. shotgun start. It is a great opportunity to meet other Canadians in our community, because all players register individually and pairings are done by the committee. This is a social tournament for Canadian players of all skill levels. We invite our fellow Canadians to join us for fresh air, a pizza lunch, and a chance to say, “‘til we meet again,” as we prepare to return to our “home and native land.”
