Girls Soccer Teams Donate to The Crystal Card Project

Over 2,200 cards (in bins and bags in the foreground) were collected by the Chandler Girls Soccer Club. Players and coaches are shown relaxing after a practice session at Snedigar Park.

Chandler Girls Soccer Club recently collected over 2,200 cards for The Crystal Card Project. Four teams of young ladies (age 12 to 13) competed to see which team could collect the most cards. They appealed to friends and relatives, and Team RSL03Cooper won, collecting 1,279 cards. This is the second year that the teams have joined forces to collect cards for the program and the second year that RSL03Cooper won.

Crystal Cards are “recycled”—fashioned from parts of used cards that might otherwise be thrown away. The project relies on donated cards like those from the four teams. The money raised by selling these beautiful, remade cards (at only $1 each) goes directly to help victims of domestic violence.

If you would like to help by donating cards—entire cards so we have the inside message as well as the front—donation bins are in each of the Sun Lakes communities as well as in the SunBird clubhouse. You can also bring donated cards to any sales event.

Sales of Crystal Cards in May:

Wednesday, May 11, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Bradford Room, Oakwood clubhouse

In addition to in-person sales, we are continuing the home delivery service. To get home delivery, email us at [email protected] with your name, address (including the community you live in), phone number, and the kinds of cards you want. We’ll be in touch to arrange delivery.

Check our website www.thecrystalcardproject.org for a full calendar of events, locations of donation bins, and other information about this project.
