The guardhouse update is almost complete! The new planter has been installed, and the stone facing has been added. Finishing touches, such as repainting the guardhouse and planting flowers, will take place in September. Thank you to Barb Ott, Jerry Seiler, and Bill Hook for collaborating on this project, which was presented to the Project Review and Planning Committee and approved by our SunBird HOA. The total cost of the project was $4,000 and was paid by the SunBird Garden Club. Money for this project was raised through the Garden Club’s annual Home and Garden Tour. Thanks again to the many generous SunBird homeowners who opened their homes for our tours, giving the rest of us awesome home and garden ideas. The 2020 tour will be held Sunday, March 8, so mark your calendars now for this fun SunBird event.
Our club exists to help beautify SunBird Golf Resort and to learn and educate about desert gardening. The only requirement for membership is to be a resident of SunBird, either a snowbird, a renter, a full-timer, or whatever other way you might live here. No one is required to weed, plant, or water, but we always welcome volunteers to help us. We have a dedicated team of weeders, planters, pruners, and general gardeners, and we would love to expand our team. We also have a team of people who keep the plants in the clubhouse dust-free. We meet monthly on the second Friday at 9:00 a.m. to socialize and learn something new about desert gardening. We hope you will join us on Friday, Nov. 8, at 9:00 a.m. for our first meeting of the year.
