Footnotes from the Library

Nancy Smith

Those of us who have lived in the snowy, colder states often feel as if January is just 31 days of freezing darkness.

In fact, the month of January is supposed to be the “gateway into a new year.” It’s nice to think of it as a fresh beginning—a new start. Our SunBird Library offers you many ways to enjoy January.

For instance: Jan. 2 is National Science Fiction Day (these are by the windows.) Jan. 4 is National Trivia Day (see Biography and Non-Fiction). Jan. 12 is National Hot Tea Day (check out the magazine rack/food catalogs.) Jan. 29 is National Puzzle Day (an entire wall of puzzles!) And, finally, a day we can all use—Jan. 16 is National Nothing Day.

Now, admit it, won’t you have fun celebrating all these fun January days?
