New participants are welcome. When new people come, more direction is given. It is very easy to follow along. You do not have to be limber or in shape. Slapping or tapping the body is done to get the blood and energy moving. We also do a lot of joint rotations. This practice is based on ancient Asian Qigong principles and is very effective. The class schedule is the same but each class will be a bit different.
I have been trained in Nidra Yoga which is a meditative and relaxing yoga.
Most people lie down on the mats but you can sit in a chair with arms (so you don’t fall off). The body becomes very relaxed. The goal is to stay awake and aware but some go to sleep for their first several sessions. You just relax and listen to the voice. This is done on Tuesday both morning and afternoon sessions. I started this in the summer during the afternoon class. The participants reported it was refreshing as well as relaxing. A few movements are done before you lie down so your body is set for a 35 to 40 minute rest. When the body is totally relaxed, it is more able to heal itself. This time spent is equivalent to three hours of sleep.
Mondays and Thursdays will interchange depending who is there. We will do the tapping or slapping the meridians (channels) and work on strength, stretching and twisting.
Come a bit early to help set up the room. Bring a mat. There are some mats in the room.
