This month the East Valley Marines, Detachment 1296, once again spent a Saturday afternoon at the Veterans Hospital in Phoenix. These sessions are when we provide two of the wards with root beer floats and assorted flavors of ice cream, along with cookies. The patients quickly line up and select their choices, often returning for second and third helpings. Our members enjoy the interaction as much as the patients enjoy the treats.
New officers were inducted for 2015. The elected officials are Dave Minick as Commandant, Jim Harkins as Senior Vice Commandant, Rich Williams as Junior Vice Commandant and John Van Houten as Judge Advocate. In addition, we have appointed members Sharon Jackley as Adjutant, Kerry Rodgers as Paymaster, Mike Bishop as Sergeant at Arms and Bob Hicks as Chaplain.
