Rich Volpe, Commander
As we enter the closing months of the 2024 season, it has been deemed beneficial that two of our local organizations be merged into one to help enhance the effectiveness of both groups. The two groups that will be consolidated, Desert Navy and Korean War Veterans, will be merged into one and will be known as Desert Valley Veterans. The goals will be unchanged, which are to help support veterans and friends in the best manner possible. Over the years, both clubs have provided support to many members and others to stay current with benefits and provide a variety of medical equipment, many motorized, for short-time use due to accidents or to help improve long-term quality of life.
Veterans from all branches of the service are always welcome. Meetings are held monthly on the fourth Wednesday of the month from October through April. Meetings start at 10 a.m. and are held in the main building of the Sun Lakes Country Club located off Riggs Road. For additional details regarding club membership or any other information, feel free to call our club commander at 480-802-2532.
We invite all who are interested to stop by at our next meeting, which is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 23. Additional information will be published in the upcoming SunBird News.
Socially, several of our club members meet weekly for lunch every Tuesday, which is something you may also enjoy. If interested, call the number above for more details and for other opportunities that are available locally. We have warehoused a large supply of medical equipment, which is only a phone call away. Our commander will be happy to talk to you regarding any of the above.
We’re looking forward to meeting up with you all in the not-too-distant future.
