Jack Cooper
The big event is coming this month, the Conley Cup competition between the Canadians and the Americans, on March 22, 23, and 24. This has been an annual event between the men since 2011, honoring Mr. Bill Conley who was a decorated marine veteran who resided on hole number 5.
The event was suspended for a couple of years when COVID-19 made its nasty appearance. However, the Conley Cup is back. It was restarted last year, with the Canadian team winning the Cup from the Americans who had a long winning streak prior to last year. This year we are getting our ladies involved by having them hold their side of the event for the very first time concurrently with the men. On Friday in four-ball competition, the men will begin play at noon, followed by the women conducting their first round of four-ball. Then on Saturday at noon, the women will lead off in alternate shot play, followed by the men. Sunday’s final round will begin at noon with singles play. In singles play one pair of men and one pair of ladies will go off in the singles completion. The SunBird ladies are really excited to be joining in this exciting event this year.
So, get out your American and Canadian flags, banners, and signs and begin displaying them along the walls and perimeter of the course to show your support for your home country. This will be a wonderful opportunity to show how our two countries love and support each other. Put it on your calendars now and begin planning your support.
