It’s Official! We have begun our winter snowbird season at SunBird. The Community Church of SunBird welcomes back everyone who has been away for the summer. And for those who stayed for the summer, we say, “Thank you for your faithfulness and your fellowship this summer.”
We kick off our winter season with a great team of pastors who rotate Sundays throughout the season. This summer we asked two new pastors, Gary Howell and Dan Graves, to join our pastoral team. What a blessing they have been to our church.
Our first project of the holiday season is well underway. We are filling shoeboxes for children here and around the world for Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child. Following the Nov. 13 deadline, we will begin preparations for our sponsorship of the Children’s Christmas Program at the Latin American Church of the Nazarene in Downtown Chandler. Community Church of SunBird members choose gift tags for those in the Children’s Program and buy a Christmas gift for each one of them. We deliver them on the afternoon of their program, watch their performance, eat pizza with them, and watch them open their gifts. What a blessing to see the joy on their faces. Later, during the month of February, we collect clothing for their church to help the families in their community.
Before you know it, Christmas is here. We want to invite all of you to join us for Christmas Eve and/or Christmas Day services this year as we celebrate the Birth of Jesus, the Christ.
