The packages are unwrapped, and the excitement of the new year is in the air. A new year means a new look at life, maybe even some new resolutions. The promise of a new year also brings renewal of hope and faith. In that spirit, we would like to invite you to an evening of impromptu song on Jan. 26, at 6 p.m. in the ballroom as we bring back “Give me some of that ‘Old-Time Religion’!” As King David said in Psalms 100:1-2, “Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness: come into His presence with singing.”
“I am the vine; you are the branches… This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.” (John 15:5,8). Our first Mission Outreach of 2020 is partnered with our local Salvation Army. We will be collecting hygiene items that will be handed out to the homeless, the working poor, and families in need this January.
Last year, we donated a large number of hygiene packets to the Salvation Army for the less fortunate in Chandler. This outreach is dear to our hearts. This year, we want to invite the whole community to join us by bringing both small- and large-sized hygiene items to the church the second, third, and fourth Sundays of January. Just drop your items in the bins at the back of the church or in the bin in the hallway by the inside ballroom door. We need personal items such as soap, washcloths, shampoo, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. We are also collecting larger items like toilet paper, laundry soap, feminine products, shampoo, and conditioner. It is a joy and blessing to share with these families.
SunBird is full to capacity—with a lot of activities, creative projects, and exercise. Friends and neighbors are everywhere in SunBird. Come to church to experience fellowship, Bible teaching, and worship on Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. in the ballroom.
