Our clubs are one of the greatest strengths of our community. They create connection, friendship, and fun. But it’s important to remember:
Clubs are not services provided for us. They are shared efforts created by us.
Every meeting, event, and activity happens because someone volunteers to organize it. Rooms are reserved. Budgets are managed. Emails are sent. Tables are set up and put away. That work doesn’t happen on its own.
Our Leaders and Instructors Are Volunteers
The people leading our clubs and classes are not paid. They are neighbors giving their time, energy, and talent simply because they care about this community.
They are not employees. They are not service providers. They are volunteers.
That distinction matters. It calls for patience, appreciation, and shared responsibility.
Membership is more than attendance. It is participation.
If you benefit from a club, consider:
• Have I offered to help?
• Have I thanked those doing the work?
• Am I willing to share responsibility?
Feedback is helpful, but contribution is essential. When the same few people carry the load, burnout follows, and when volunteers step back, clubs struggle.
Strong clubs require active members.
At SunBird, we shine brightest when we step up—not just show up.
